Pender Island Metal Roof
This beautiful newly constructed home was built with little compromise with regard to roofing materials. Due to a fairly wet location and time of the year, the owners decided to go with a premium underlay. “Roofnado” is a top-of-the-line underlay that is a peel and stick application. It is worlds apart from felt or tar paper and almost serves as a second roofing system under the metal roof.
"Iron Ore" was selected for the colour for all the new buildings on site: main house, shop, woodshed and generator shed and really tied together the entire property. Over 9800 sq.ft. of commercial grade 24 guage steel was used. For the few flat sections we applied a 3 ply torch-on membrane soprema product
The roof was planned and engineered to have a low curving pitch which necessitated a mechanical seam. The curved pitch also proved to be a challenge for the flashing - every piece of flashing was shaped by hand to take the curve of the roof. The results are amazing!
